Development of packaging for healthy school meals

A project financed by the Region of Southern Denmark and the European Union.

The project goal was to develop packaging for healthy school meals, covering both present and future packaging requirements.

In the long term, there is a demand for school meals packaged in such a way that the quality is preserved during transport and storage. As well as this, the packaging must be functional, informative and appealing, so the children will want to eat the contents and thus will be insured a healthy diet.

In other words, it should be a school meal packaging subject to other requirements compared to the packaging on the market today. The packaging should also meet requirements for environmental friendliness as well as documentation requirements for non-migration of health hazardous substances from the packaging to the food.

A report describing the project has been prepared.
