German Auto Industry

The project was geared towards collaboration with the strong German clusters in the materials and automotive areas and was launched to secure new knowledge and deliveries to a series of Danish companies. A detailed plan based on technology exchange and value chain collaboration was drawn up to secure a much closer collaboration with the wider German industry particularly in the Bayern area over the following 1-2 years.

The first focus area identified was the German auto industry, where the result of a common development project between Audi, BMW and Mercedes could be transferred and used in the Danish industry, resulting in the ability of Danish aluminium suppliers being able to deliver.

The project was launched at a kick off conference on 1st March 2012. It was a very exciting day, which under the circumstances was held in the luxurious conference facilities at Audi Fredericia. The purpose of the conference was to inform, inspire and focus on the possibilities for the Danish aluminium industry. Audi, BMW and Mercedes contributed with presentations about their use of aluminium and two Danish aluminium companies talked about their present involvement with the auto industry.
