Characteristics, test & failure analysis of products

To make the extent of analysis- and testing equipment for different purposes more manageable and to shed light on what equipment is most suitable in a certain case, it is planned to demonstrate part of this equipment in practice. This is a broad range of equipment including everything from the common laboratory equipment to the new, advanced test facilities MAX IV and ESS in Lund and European XFEL in Hamburg.

Under this theme, in a corporation with LINX, it is possible to carry out characterizations of the participating companies own components on existing equipment of varying complexity.

Approved project proposal

Method for accelerated lifetime determination and validation of composite components for the wind industry in different corrosion environments. The proposal has been made by Siemens Gamesa R.V. A/S.

The project will try to find a connection between accelerated corrosion test, which is often used in the industry, and the actual service life of a product.

The goal of the project:

To find a method through accelerated tests, which can generate and simulate the corrosion impacts that are expected to be present in or outside a component through e.g. 25 years.

The method must form the basis of validation on component level, thereby setting the standard for how the industry tests the suitability of components for use under various influences.

The project was started as a windmill project only, but the results will be useful in the entire industry that uses and develops products, where service life is a significant parameter for the product.

Besides DMN, as project leader, the following partners are involved in the project: Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy A/S, KK Wind Solution A/S, Terma A/S, Hydra Grene A/S og PolyTech A/S. This circle furthermore consists of FORCE Technology and LINX as knowledge partners.
