A partner company then moulded and extruded the material into standardised \u201cdogbone\u201d specimens (not for chewing \ud83d\udc36\ud83d\ude09 but perfect for mechanical testing \ud83e\uddea).<\/p>\n<p>We are now testing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100% river-collected polypropylene<\/li>\n<li>50\/50 blends of river and virgin plastic<\/li>\n<li>100% virgin polypropylene<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\ud83c\udfaf What we want to understand<\/p>\n<p>How much does a journey through the river environment affect the mechanical strength and reuse potential of polypropylene?<br \/>\nThese tests will help evaluate whether plastic collected directly from waterways can be reintegrated into circular material streams.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s exciting to see river plastic move from data collection \u2192 material preparation \u2192 real mechanical performance testing.
