A project financed by the Danish Agency for Science and Innovation.<\/p>\n
All materials are subject to degradation over time, but there are particular problems with plastics, as they degrade faster than other materials.<\/p>\n
The degradation depends on the type of plastic involved and on the conditions that the material is exposed to during production (heat, sterilization, etc.) and during usage (UV-light, weather conditions, chemicals and heat).<\/p>\n
The project goal was to obtain more information about how plastic degrades and which factors influence the degradation of a particular type of plastic. On the basis of these data, the goal was to set guidelines for increasing the life-time of plastics and preventing untimely degradation.<\/p>\n
A report describing the project has been prepared.<\/p>\n
