Rewarding Course on Introduction to Polymer Technology – Thermoplastics Was Held with High Attendance
Danish Materials Network, DMN – PlastNet, on 4 October, 2016 hosted a free training day for members of DMN and others interested in introduction to polymer technology – thermoplastics at Aalborg University in Esbjerg. The event had 45 participants.
Mia Katharina Podlech, DMN – PlastNet, gave 3 lectures on basic polymer chemistry, the effect of injection moulding on the finished piece, and the physical and chemical stability of polymers, including physical ageing and a lot of examples.
There was also a lecture on a systematic method for selecting materials, where the general procedure was presented. The day continued with a new lecture on the most common methods of analysis for polymer failure. This lecture was coupled with a visit to Material Laboratory at Aalborg University, where DMN can perform thermal, mechanical and physical tests and analyses of polymers.
