Report on thought-provoking results from DMN’s fieldwork on TV SYD

DMN’s project manager Bente Nedergaard Christensen and Biologist Melanie Brauckhoff from The Fisheries and Maritime Museum are surprised and upset by the large amounts of microplastics found in a comprehensive study on six beaches in West Jutland. They are particularly upset that much of the microplastics have turned out to be granules (raw materials) for the Plastics industry, since a major effort is already being made by the Plastics industry with the Operation Clean Sweep program to limit emissions of plastic to the environment. Therefore, it is believed that much of the washed up plastic comes from waste abroad.
