Field work on Hvide Sande beach

In a collaborative project, DMN is in the process of getting an overview of the amount of microplastics on beaches on the west coast of Jutland, and there is great interest in the project, including from Danish Radio (DR/P4) who were on the spot when field work was done on Hvide Sande beach.

One of the concerns is whether the microplastic releases toxic chemical compounds that eventually end up in the food chain if not removed. Bente N. Christensen from DMN and biologist Melanie Brauckhoff from the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, who is one of the partners in the project, are interviewed about the project.
