DMN held the second open workshop in the project initiated by DMN and the wind turbine industry’s largest players, Vestas Wind Systems and Siemens Wind Power
DMN held a workshop on Wednesday, June 21. It was the second open workshop in the project initiated by DMN and the wind turbine industry’s largest players, Vestas Wind Systems and Siemens Wind Power.
Five groups of companies presented the result of their work since the first idea generation workshop held May 2, and several exiting suggestions on how a standardized, modularly built intermediate platform, that can be adapted to 3-8 m diameter towers, can be designed, has been generated.
There were suggestions in both steel, aluminum and composite, and combinations thereof and there were many opportunities to get inspired by the groups’ suggestions. One of the groups had a 3D model of their suggestion and even with non-slip surface implemented.
Following the presentations, there was opportunity to ask questions to a panel of experienced representatives from the wind industry and get an idea of the business potential for the right companies with the right solution.
Afterwards there was lunch and a good opportunity to network and discuss the suggestions further.
It is now up to companies whether they want to be part of a formal project work, work on the solutions and discuss them with the wind industry at the forthcoming closed meetings.
